Kent Ebersole is the president of Outdoor Industry Association (OIA). OIA champions the outdoors by safeguarding public lands and providing expertise and solutions to brands, retailers, suppliers, and nonprofits. Through research, sustainability, participation, and advocacy, OIA works to create equitable outdoor experiences that strengthen the industry. Under his leadership, OIA has reestablished its role as the industry's convener, reviving signature gatherings including OIA Rendezvous and the Catalyst Conference.
Prior to OIA, Kent managed outdoor media brands, including Backpacker, Climbing, Ski, and Warren Miller. He served on the Camber Board of Directors for six years, contributing his leadership and development skills. Drawing on that experience and deep industry relationships, he focuses on delivering timely, high-value experiences for OIA's members.
Over the course of his career, Kent has lived in the West, the Rockies, the Midwest, and on the East Coast. Everywhere he has called home, he has found his way outdoors. Whether it's a morning run in Central Park or a trek to the edge of Mount St. Helens, he believes adventure is wherever you look for it.

Dan Wanshura sits down with Kent Ebersole and Christina Henderson, to reflect on what they've heard throughout the day, what surprised them, and what it means for the future of Michigan's public lands and outdoor economy.
