Andrea Daar is a strategic consultant and interpretive designer who is passionate about helping nonprofits and businesses use stories to impact their communities for good. Andrea is a skilled facilitator, strategic thinker, and dot connector who is driven to help organizations discover the roots of their strengths, so they can do more of what they already do well. She has held various roles for 15 years before consulting and designing starting in 2023. Her prior roles have included wilderness guide, outdoor industry business owner, adjunct instructor at Northern Michigan University in the Outdoor Recreation Leadership and Management Program, and Executive Director at the Upper Peninsula Land Conservancy from 2015-2023. Some of her recent clients include TART Trails, Chelan-Douglas Land Trust, Inland Northwest Land Conservancy, NTN Trails, and the Upper Peninsula Association for Behavior Analysis. Oh – and she’s also a current student in the Masters in Administration of Outdoor Recreation and Nature-Based Tourism at Northern Michigan University!

Preparing Future Leaders in the Outdoor Industry

Explore curriculum design, development of key skills and abilities (KSAs), and the practical applications of the outdoor recreation-focused academic programs at Northern Michigan University through collaborative projects and research. Attendees will engage in small group discussions to identify the outdoor industry’s needs for professional development and workforce training, and to brainstorm ideas for enhancing the synergy between academic programs and industry demands.
